What to expect from your referral?
We understand that when your pet needs a referral, it can be a stressful and upsetting time. Here at Bright Side Vets, we aim to provide a friendly and informative service giving you the time you need to be comfortable with the options available for your pet. Understanding what to expect when you come to visit us is an important first step. This page will give you some guidance on your first, or subsequent visits to Bright Side Vets.
When we first contact you, it is likely to be over the phone, especially if you are coming from a referring vet in the area. Our friendly team will need to take some details from you and will offer an appointment that will be mutually suitable. Our initial appointment is 30 minutes long, so you won’t be rushed.
Upon arrival, please check in with our reception team who will ensure Jess or Kelly (our referral vets) know that you are here. We will endeavour not to keep you waiting and will keep you informed if there is an emergency that will impact on the time you will be seen.
For an Ophthalmology Referral
If Jess recommends carrying out a procedure, we will try to carry out the procedure on the same day as your appointment.
For a Soft Tissue or Orthopaedic Referral
Kelly will review your case during your appointment and it may be that we need to admit your pet for imaging or a procedure on the same day. There is a possibility, however, that we may need to ask you to come back on a different day to complete a more complex procedure, which will require planning and preparation to ensure your pet’s ultimate care.
Getting ready for your appointment
In order to make sure your referral experience runs smoothly we ask that you please:
- Bring your pet starved from 9pm the night before your appointment.
- Arrive with any insurance documentation with you.
- Bring any medication your pet is currently taking with you.
